ReachOut is data-free. Let's explain what that means. Apps like WhatsApp are free to use, but require that you have an active internet data plan to work. In the case of ReachOut, it works whether you have an active internet data plan or not. Even if you have an active internet data plan, ReachOut would not use out of it. But the important thing to note is that, ReachOut still needs to be able to communicate with your mobile network operator and because of this needs mobile data turned on. Another thing to note is that ReachOut is only data-free on supported mobile network operators in certain countries. The current list is as follows: Nigeria - MTN, Airtel, 9Mobile and Glo. Kenya - Safaricom. We are expanding to more countries and on more mobile networks so stay tuned.
ReachOut needs to be able to communicate with your mobile network operator even though it does NOT use your internet data plan. Because of this, you still need to have your mobile data turned ON.
ReachOut uses your phone’s Internet connection (4G/3G/2G/EDGE or Wi-Fi) to send and receive messages to your friends and family. If you are in Nigeria and on the MTN, Airtel, Glo or 9Mobile network, ReachOut doesn’t use your internet data plan or airtime. All messages you send or receive while on these networks are completely data-free.
You can make voice and video calls from the ReachOut app to any of your ReachOut contacts. Just like with sending messages or media files, calls (audio and video) are data-free when you are on any of the following networks in Nigeria: MTN, Airtel, Glo or 9Mobile.
The ReachOut team is available on ReachOut. Go to your contacts' list on ReachOut and look for ReachOut Help. Start a conversation with a ReachOut specialist who would be more than happy to help with any questions or problems you have.
To keep your data safe and ensure your privacy, ReachOut incorporates sophisticated end-to-end encryption. This ensures that only you and the person (or people) you’re communicating with can read what is sent. Nobody else can read your messages, not even the team at ReachOut.
ReachOut is a for profit company and makes money when businesses interact with users. For example, when businesses send messages to users on ReachOut we charge a fee for the message.
Go to your contacts' list on ReachOut. Click on 'businesses' and then search for the business you are looking for.
Yes! Your interaction with every business is end-to-end encrypted meaning only you and the business can read the messages exchanged. Using ReachOut to interact with businesses is more secure than using USSD or SMS.
ReachOut servers do not store or keep a copy of your messages after they are delivered. Once end-to-end encrypted messages are delivered and decrypted on your device they are only stored on your device and not on ReachOut’s servers.
You can send a short (60 seconds) voice note to another ReachOut user by tapping the Microphone icon at the bottom right corner of your chat screen. Once recording is complete, hit the send button to have it delivered to the recipient.
No. By default ReachOut doesn’t send read receipts or show when you are online. This is to protect your privacy.
Zerodata is a service by Simplifyd Systems that allows you to access listed apps completely data-free. ReachOut works with Zerodata to also allow you to enjoy those listed apps completely data-free through the ReachOut app also. ReachOut is data-free because it runs on the Simplifyd Systems’ cloud infrastructure.
